The Laker varsity football team’s three-game winning streak to start the 2020 season came to a halt on Friday night as the Lakers suffered a tough 23-20 loss at the hands of the host Rockets.
Laker head coach, Steve VerBurg said Reese had a tough schedule to start the season and has improved from week to week despite their 0-3 record coming into the game.

He said turnovers by his team proved costly, and the final score indicated that.
“We have to learn from our mistakes,” VerBurg said. “There’s going to be a lot of film and a lot of studying and fixing those things we didn’t execute well.”
Friday, the Lakers (3-1) will host Bad Axe for their homecoming game. VerBurg said Laker will need to grow as players and as coaches to be ready for the surging Hatchets, who also are 3-1 on the season.
