No fewer than two persons lost consciousness during a stampede that ensued in Ilesa, Osun state when residents were rushing to cart away food items.
Thousands of bags of Cassava flakes known as gaari were taken away from the National Strategic Food Reserve at Osun-Ankara in Ilesha.
News Boom gathered that the staple food was kept in the silos to feed Nigerians whenever there is shortage of food in circulation.
The three wharehouses housing the food item were emptied by crowd.
They blamed the government for not distributing the commodity when the price of a module jumped from 150  to  400 naira this year.

The group captain of the Nigerian Air force  Regiment Training Centre  annex , Ipetu ijesa, Osun state who arrived the Silos a bit late, succeeded in dispersing the people after  persuading them not to touch the facility in their own interest.

While the military men were trying to disperse the crowd, two persons slumped amid stampede.

News Boom gathered that one of the two people who were stampeded during the loot was resuscitated at the spot, while the other  whose case was critical was rushed to an unidentified hospital.
