A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun state, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has appealed to the people of the State to shun violence, looting and destruction of properties.
The Group Chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc asked the residents to dialogue with government rather than carting away public and private property.

This was contained in a statement he signed and made available to News Boom in Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday.
Ogunbiyi described the reports of looting, unrest and destruction of properties in strategic cities and communities across the state as disturbing and heartbreaking.
He particularly appealed to Ikire residents and all parties involved in the renewed confrontation in the community to sheath their sword just as he urged government at all levels and security forces to look into the remote causes of the #EndSARS protests, massive looting and crisis and to attend to genuine concerns of the citizens.
His words, “at this point, silence is no longer golden. The twists and turns of events in the nation and our beloved state are very heartbreaking and disturbing.
“Across the nation, there is anger and frustration. In all honesty, people have courses to stand to be seen and talk to be heard in defence of their rights and campaign against bad governance and brutality by some bad eggs within a fraction of the armed forces.
“However, for the good of all and in the best interest of our dear state, I appeal to my fellow citizens of Osun to please embrace peace and shun violence in order to forestall further loss of lives and properties, having demonstrated an unwavering commitment to a better Nigeria.
“While the protest is a right and not a privilege, in speaking up against bad governance and in defence of any course, we must at all times register our displeasure honestly and always pursue solidarity.
“Osun belongs to us all and together we must do our best to de-escalate unrest, looting and destruction of public properties in our dear state.”
