Amotekun arrests suspected cultists for attacking residents in Osogbo

No fewer than thirteen suspected cultists have been arrested by the operatives of the South-West Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps in Osun State for allegedly attacking innocent citizens in Osogbo.
The hoodlums were said to have engaged another rival cult in supremacy fight in Osogbo on Monday night.
The crisis lingered till the next day at different locations in Osogbo including Idi-Omo, Oke-baale, Isale-Osun, Oja-Oba among others. The suspected cultists, while armed with dangerous weapons such as axes, guns, charms, attacked and matcheted residents of the affected areas.
The rivalry battle was said to be between the cults group Aiye and Eiye confraternities. The suspected cultists who caused panic in the affected areas for two days were said to have rendered many hospitalised.
It was learnt that the rival groups exchanged gunfire until the early hours of Wednesday when Amotekun security operatives dispersed them.
To douse tension in the areas, patrol vehicles of the security network were stationed for several hours.
The Field Commander of Amotekun Corps in the State, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, said the suspects were arrested at different locations in Osogbo.
Shittu stated that they were in possession of dangerous weapons. He added that they have been handed over to appropriate security agencies for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola confirmed that the suspects were arrested adding that situation was u see control in affected areas.
