Osun APC caucus cries to Buhari, IGP, others over alleged assassination plot
Allegation baseless – APC

A caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, The Osun Progressives (TOP), on Thursday, raised the alarm over an alleged planned violent attack and assassination of its leaders.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the Chairman of TOP, Reverend Lowo Adebiyi, said since some members of the group were attacked by thugs during the parallel Ward Congress held recently in the state, there was information that TOP leaders were next to be visited with terror.
Adebiyi, who fingered some top government officials and APC Chieftains, cried to President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, Director General of Department of State Security Service, Chief of Staff to the President, and Secretary to the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the crisis rocking the party.
He said the caucus had petitioned the State Police Commissioner, Olawale Olokode on the alleged attack on his members and further called on security agencies in the state to forestall the speculated plot to attack and assissinate leaders of the group.
“We want to put on record, information on attempt by some elements, allegedly within government and our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attack and murder some of the leaders of The Osun Progressives (TOP).
“It is important that we bring to public knowledge this evil intention, despite that we have informed relevant security agencies who had assured us of taking steps to investigate the information and as well ensure protection of the lives of the leadership and members of our caucus.
“We plead with the authorities; starting from our amiable President, Inspector General of Police, Director General of DSS, Chief of Staff to the president, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to quickly intervene and stop desperate elements in Osun APC from spilling the blood of the innocents for their selfish interests. ‘Anybody’s selfish interest is not enough to spill another man’s blood,’ a former president of Nigeria once noted. We also call on the National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC to take a closer look at, and get more than passing interest in the developing events in Osun APC.
“We equally wish that elders of the APC, especially our father and leader who was a Governor in Osun, Chief Bisi Akande to take more than mere interest in the squabbles here, even when we acknowledge his earlier efforts as noble but fruitless because the policy of the government is anti-democratic,” he noted.
Reacting, the leadership of the party in the state, described the alarm as baseless and unfounded.
Speaking, Kola Olabisi, the media aide to the Osun APC Caretaker Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, dismissed the allegation made by top that some people in the party were planning attack adding that “anything from TOP or whatever they call themselves is baseless and unfounded.”
