Catholic Politicians and Professionals with Yemi Osinbajo
On Friday, the Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi, in company of the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong and his counterparts from Edo and Akwa Ibom States, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, and Mr Moses Ekpo, respectively, received the Vice-president, at the ongoing Annual General Assembly.
According to the Osun Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ajibola Olaniyi, in a statement, Alabi, who is the Chairman, Central Planning Committee for the programme, in his closing remark said, ”It is my utmost pleasure to be part of this great assemblage of eminent Nigerians to discuss issues of paramount interest to Nigeria and Nigerians from the lens of Catholic doctrine and teachings.
“The theme of the Assembly: Moral Principles in Catholic Teachings and the Nigeria Political & Business Life has been extensively dissected by various speakers, especially the erudite keynote speaker, His Lordship, Most Revd. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.
“I want to commend the priceless contributions of members of the Catholic Action Nigeria and Catholic Politicians and Captains of Industry Forum for this laudable initiative.
“Obviously, engagement of this nature is germane and timely at this critical period of our national life, considering lingering challenges facing our nation since independence and the endless search for workable solutions.
“Without mincing words, we are presently at a crossroads in the journey of our nation, for the continuity and survival of our corporate entity and the quest for dignity of human person, sanctity of family and community, rights and responsibilities among others.
“As we have been made to clearly understand the symbiotic relationship between governance and economy as well as our obligations as people of faith being guided by Catholic moral teachings, may we continue to work in that path of honour and responsibility.
“Once again, I want to thank all the participants in this programme, your contributions are unquantifiable and highly appreciated.
Osun Deputy Governor
“I look forward to see you tomorrow at the AGORA conference to continue this all important conversation.
