Easter: Osun lawmaker urges Christians to imbibe Jesus’ sacrificial lessons
By Oluwatosin Abimbola, Osogbo
A member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Ifedayo State Constituency, Honourable (Mrs) Adenike Elizabeth Abioye has congratulated Nigerians, particularly, Christians on the celebration of this year’s Easter.
In her congratulatory message made available on Thursday, the parliamentarian identified selflessness and commitment to humanity as virtues Christ taught through the season and implored Christians world over to imbibe it.
Hon Abioye
Hon. Abioye particularly identified with adherents of the biblical faith in Ifedayo State Constituency and Osun State at large on the successful completion of the forty (40) days fast.
While recalling the trials and travails of Jesus Christ which climaxed with his temptation, betrayal, arrest, trial, conviction, torture and crucifixion which the Easter season encapsulates, the lawmaker particularly congratulated the entire Christian fold on the resurrection of Christ after 3 days, a miraculous feat which, according to her, concretises the Christian faith and bridges the gap which existed between man and God after the incident in the garden of Eden.
Hon Abioye
As the state prepares for the gubernatorial poll in July, Hon, Abioye used the Easter season to harp on the need for tolerance, peace, oneness and unconditional love especially among all residents of the state irrespective of political, ethnic, social or religious divide.
The lawmaker who also presides over the House Committee on Health, equally acknowledged and appreciated vessels in God’s vineyard for their continued prayers and supplication for the government and people of the state.
She identified these efforts as cornerstones for the peace, stability and steady progress being enjoyed across all sectors in the state.
Hon Abioye
The parliamentarian implored all residents of the state to see the Easter season as another window to intensify their prayers for the state as well as rededicate themselves to supporting the developmental strides of the administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola as he forges ahead in his noble service to the people of the state.
