A Non- Governmental Organisation, Value Female Network (VFN) has felicitated with boys and men on the occasion of this year’s International Men’s Day (2020 IMD) and described them as necessities for societal transformation.

In a release issued by the Executive Director of VFN, Dr Costly Aderibigbe-Sába to commemorate the day, boys and men were urged to lend their voice to ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child labour, rape and other inhumane treatments melted out on the female folk.

Aderibigbe-Saba asked men to contribute meaningfully to the betterment of humanity, growth of their communities and transformation of society at large.

She commended the efforts of men who devote their time, treasure and talents to seeing that others, especially girls and eomen, live healthily, safely and have their rights protected.

Reacting to the them of the annual event: “Better health for Men and Boys,” the Executive Director admonished men to ensure that their health is prioritised even as they strive to cater for their families saying health is wealth.

“We at VFN know the significance of boys and men to the growth of our society. On this special day,  we want to urge men to be wary of their health even as they strive to cater for their families and discharge their responsibilities to those that matter to them.

“We at VFN know that boys and men are needed and veritable tools to ending all forms of menaces that girls and women are confronted with in the society. For this reason, we always organise programmes to boys in the event tagged “Boys Promote Equality,” and have boys trained and given orientation about how to ensure a safe place for all.”

She commended young men who volunteer their time and resources for selfless services to the humanity through VFN and other NGOs and called on men to be more concerned about the safety of their female counterpart.
