Thrift collector in court for duping client in Osun

The Police in Osun State on Thursday arraigned a daily thrift collector, Akinpelu Folasade, aged 42,  before an Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding client of N395,000.
The Prosecutor, Asp Sunday Osanyintuyi told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 3, 2020 at Iremo Road, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the female thrift collector defrauded one Ademakinwa Ademola by converting the sum of N395,000 collected from her on daily contribution to her own use.
He added that the defendant had collected the sum under the pretence of daily contribution  before spending it.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 383 (3), 390(8), ,(b) and 434 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of fraud and illegal convertion.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Reuben Abednego, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term.
Magistrate A.A. Adebayo granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like amount.
The case was adjourned till March 4, for hearing.
