I didn’t attack Aregbesola’s PA, Asiri Eniba says, threatens to sue newspaper over report
The Group 1 Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas of Osun State, Mr Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, has denied media reports that he led some thugs to attack Mr Olateju Adunni, the Personal Assistant to Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Some online media had reported on Sunday night that Teju and the lawmaker representing Osogbo Constituency at the Osun House of Assembly, Hon Taofeek Badmasi were attacked by some hoodlums allegedly led by Asiri Eniba.
The online media reported that Badmus and other people were celebrating his birthday at a restaurant in Oroki Estate, Osogbo, when the thugs attacked them around 10:30pm on Sunday.
The platforms also reported that the Personal Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, Dammy, popularly known Pentagon was also attacked by the hoodlums.
But in a chat with NEWS BOOM on Monday in Osogbo, the NURTW boss who spoke in Yoruba language, claimed he was not even aware of the brithday party nor know the venue, not to talk of leading hoodlums to launch the attack.
He warned against casting aspersions on his name by a section of the media whenever there is crisis or killings in Osogbo.
For the transporters Chairman, there was no justification for him to attack anyone adding that “there are attempts by some people to malign my name.
“People know I am a member of the All Progressives Congress and how possible it is for me to attack fellow members of the party that I belong. I don’t have any issue with Teju, neither was I aware of the birthday party. I want to also say that I am not involved in the rift between Aregbesola and Oyetola.
“I was at Adebimpe Event Centre, Stadium area in Osogbo on Sunday night, where the popular Fuji Musician, Abass Akande Obesere was performing at a ceremony. How then can I be at the birthday party at thesame time?
“It was when I was with Obesere that I got the false news that I led some thugs to attack some people. I was serious annoyed with such report coming from Osun Defender. The medium didn’t even contact me to balance their story.
“For you to know how serious I was to confirm that story, I had to leave the event I was attending to Old Garage where my boys used to stay, I got there around 11pm on Sunday and all my boys were there. I asked if anyone of them attacked anyone, they said they didn’t.
“I was at the Old Garage just to see if there would be persons that carried out the alleged attack but I didn’t see. Then, I left the Old Garage around 1am. I have met with my lawyer over the report that I read in Osun Defender and I have instructed him to file a suit against them for character damage. If the newspaper has any evidence of me leading thugs to attack anyone, it should provide it,” Asiri Eniba said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Osogbo State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Taofeek Olatunde Badamasi has debunked the report that he was attacked at the birthday party.
The lawmaker via his official facebook page said he was not attacked by anybody and that there was no iota of truth in the report that he was attacked.
“This is to dispel every iota of gross misinformation and unsubstantiated reports published or circulated online that i was attacked by thugs at the birthday get-together organized on my behalf by close friends and associates around Oroki Estate. This is completely untrue.”
“Let me reiterate for the umpteenth time, I, Hon.(Engr) Badamasi Olatunde Taofeek (Abolubode), the Honourable member representing the good, loving and accommodating people of Osogbo State Constituency was not attacked or assaulted by any thug. I’m safe, sound and healthy, i didn’t suffer any cut, bruises or wound, I’m presently in my official apartment.”
“I appreciate all those concerned about my safety, who have reached out to me via calls and messages. Please kindly disregard in its entirety any other contrary falsehood.”
Meanwhile, a nephew to Senator Ajibola Basiru was said to have sustained a cut around his cheek. He was said to have been attacked by the hoodlums at the birthday event.
