Catholic Action Nigeria, a movement of lay faithful that promote Catholic social justice principles, leadership and good governance as well as contributing to the developmental and economic growth of the nation has organised a Policy Development Workshop in Abuja on Friday.
Catholic Action – Nigeria create a platform for Nigerians (Catholics and Non-Catholics) with special focus on the young people to be adequately moulded into active political participation guided by the teaching of the Church, and also to raise virtues leaders guided by the fear of God, love for humanity and selfless service to the nation.

The workshop was attended by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mr Benedict Alabi, his counterparts from Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu and Mr Moses Ekpo, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State among other Executives and members of Catholic Action Nigeria, priests and lay faithful of the Church.
Alabi, while speaking at the workshop, described the Policy Development as a “necessity in the contest of active participation of men and women of faith in active politics and the responsibility of quality delivery.”
“While making my remarks on the theme of the event: “The Church’s Position on Participation of the Laity in Public Life vis-a-vis the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church”, I emphasised that the concept of policy development all over the world intrinsically determines the continuity and survival of any administration as the compass of movement and operation.
“Also, I averred that the nexus between Faith and Policy Development is of necessity in the contest of active participation of men and women of faith in active politics and the responsibility of quality delivery.
“I, therefore, concluded that Policy Development encapsulates systematic move of setting priorities, in which policy makers must be guided by certain doctrines to be responsive, responsible and sensitive,” a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Osun Deputy Governor, Mr Olaniyi Ajibola, quoted Alabi.
