
NYG21: Osun Contingents Arrive Home With 11 Medals

As the curtain was drawn on the sixth National Youth Games today in Ilorin, Osun Athletes and players can boast of winning Eleven Medals which consists of Six Silver Medals and Five Bronze Medals.
Team Osun won Medals in Sports such as Football, Basketball, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Para-Table Tennis as well as Ayo Olopon.
Recall that Team Osun participated in nothing less than twenty-three games at the just concluded National Youth Games in Ilorin.
Osun Contingents Arrive Ilorin for National Youth Games as Screening Exercise Begins
Oladele Elijah Oladipo was the first Medalist for Team Osun after he bagged Silver Medal in Taekwondo. Opeyemi Raji also followed suit by winning another Silver Medal in Taekwondo.
In Weightlifting, Hammed Adelabu won two Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal while Asaolu Oyinkansola also bagged Bronze Medal.
Mujeeb Taiwo did the state proud in Para-Table Tennis by claiming the Bronze Medal.
In Ayo Olopon, Agboola Mariam played her part as she won Bronze Medal while in the Mixed double, the duo of Adebayo Imole Niyi and Agboola Mariam lost narrowly in the final and settled for Silver Medal.
It is worth to note that in the ball games, this is the first time that our Male Football Team and Female Basketball Team would be qualifying for the Youth Games and they did the state proud.
In Football, Osun Male Football Team fought gallantly by getting to the Final. They eventually bowed to the Male Football Team of Kwara with a goal to nil. They won the Silver Medal for the state.
On the other hand, Osun Female Basketball Team defeated Benue in the Final to win the Bronze Medal. With their exploits, the Coach Taiwo Ajibola (Eleniyan) tutored girls became the toast of all Basketball lovers in Ilorin.
Though Team Osun did not record any Gold Medal but it is Cristal clear that we are getting there gradually.
