Groups hail Isi-Uzo LGA Chairman for repairing badly damaged Eha-Amufu bridge
The G-17 group Isi-Uzo Local Government chapter has praised the Executive Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, Hon. Obiora Obeagu for fulfilling his promise and for his proactive response and interventions that saw to the total overhaul and repair of the badly damaged barley bridge at. Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo LGA.
It would be recalled that hundreds of articulated and heavy duty trucks plying Obollo-Ikem- Eha-Amufu -Nkalagu road from the North through Ebonyi State to Cross-River had badly damaged the hanging bridge leading to the total collapse of the barley bridge base. Travellers from Obollo- Ikem- Eha-Amufu axis were cut off from accessing Ebonyi and Cross River States via the route. But normalcy has been restored the through the efforts of the Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA as he promised during his emergency site visit and assessment tour.
In his reaction, the Isi-Uzo Local Government coordinator of G-17, Comrade Innocent Odo said they were not surprised at the swift response of Isi-Uzo LGA Chairman. He noted that Hon. Barr. Obiora Obeagu is a visionary, charitable, responsible and responsive leader who cares deeply about the security and welfare of his people. Comrade Odo noted that they are aware that this is about the fifth time the Chairman of Isi-Uzo is repairing the bridge within a space of about one year and four months he assumed office. We thank Hon. Obiora Obeagu for his constant interventions on that bridge. It was even the epicenter of crisis that rocked Eha-Amufu last year but the dogged Chairman took the Bulls by the horns with the State government and the security agencies to bring Eha-Amufu back to life.” he said.
In the same vein, a member of the Board of Trustee of Empathy International, Barr. Onowu Ojira said Hon. Barr. Obiora Obeagu is a blessing to the people of Isi-Uzo LGA. Barr. Ojira, a blind lawyer, who is also the SSA to Isi-Uzo Chairman on People with Disability (PWD), used the medium to thank Hon. Obiora Obeagu for increasing the number of disabled persons he is taking care of to over 600 persons in
He said it has never happened before in Isi-Uzo.
A lot of stakeholders praised the bold steps of Hon. Obeagu, citing his construction of a brand new two storey building Secretariat at Isi-Uzo LGA Headquarters, noting that there had not been such a move to improve infrastructure in the Council since the old Secretariat was built in 1976, 47 years ago.
The people of Isi-Uzo local government are also calling on the Federal government to do the needful on the Federal road by asphalting the remaining part of the road and constructing a concrete bridge to put an end to the infrastructure crisis on that Federal road. It is only the Enugu State government and Isi-Uzo local government council that have been carrying out interventions on that road despite the fact that it is the responsibility of the federal government.
