Benin Republic citizens join ENDSARS Protest, storm Nigerian Embassy

Citizens of Benin Republic have joined the ongoing ENDSARS Protest and called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to proscribe the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, without further delay.

The protesters, most of whom are Nigerians, while armed with placards bearing varying inscriptions, on Saturday, stormed the Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou, the Benin Republic capital.

In a short video obtained by News Boom,the prostesters lined up before the Embassy and called for an end to police brutality and total scrap of the police unit.

The protesters, mostly youths, were seen in front of the Nigerian House, Cotonou, singing solidarity songs while displaying placards that read; “End SARS now, “Buhari Must Go”, “Revolution Now,” among others.

The ENDSARS campaign had begun recently by Nigerians who condemned police brutality, victimisation, harrsament, extortion and extra-judicial killings by SARS operatives.

The agitators, mostly youths have called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu and he Leadership of Police Commisoon to scrap SARS.

They said the unit has become irreformable, hence its end.
