Financial probity, bottom-up approach needed for stability in governance – Osun traditional council

The Traditional Council of Ayedaade Local Government area of Osun State has said that governance rooted in administrative discipline and people centeredness is the only system that can stand the test of time.

The council noted that especially, in this period of economic downturn, leaders across board needed to chart a course towards maximizing the limited resources through prioritizing the homegrown needs of the people in the policy formulation.

This is even as the council likened the system to the financial engineering and the bottom-up approach put together by Governor Oyetola in managing the state affairs in the face of paucity of funds, thereby bringing about a stable socioeconomic and political system in the state.

The chairman of the council, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi, the Olufi of Gbongan Land disclosed this during an edition of Governor’s Family Meeting organized by Office of the Special Adviser on Civic Engagement held at Gbongan City Hall, Gbongan.

The monarch said the best form of input in the authoritative allocation of values in every governance system is the one that come from the governed through a “bottom-up” approach and this is the best arrangement that could facilitate a stable polity.

“We are all aware of the lingering financial crisis in the entire country but we have seen a cue from Oyetola’s approach to governance which places emphasis on inclusiveness and popular participation; a process by which his administration gets people’s needs right from the grassroots and prioritize the execution within the limit of state resources.

“This is why it’s unarguable to assert that Oyetola minimizes waste to the bearest minimum and maximizes the meagre resources to satisfy the people’s needs through the use of both financial probity and bottom-up approach system. This is the best way to go if this nation must move forward.”, he concluded.
