JDPMC trains Osun CAN youths on production of fertilisers, pesticides

The Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, has empowered some youths of the Christian Association of Nigeria with knowledge and skills on how to produce fertilizers and pesticides from locally-sourced materials.
The training was part of the activities marking this year’s Youth Week celebrations by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ìwó Chapter and held at First Baptist Church, Aipate Ìwó, Osun State on September 17, 2022.
Experts from JDPMC including Mrs Morenike Onaolapo and Madam Veronica Olaoye, empowered no fewer than 24 participants at the programme.
The programme featured practical demonstration of methods for the extraction of manure and pesticides from organic components. It also featured an interactive session where participants asked questions on what they were taught and the experts provided answers and clarifications accordingly.
While addressing the participants, Olaoye, a Programme Officer from the Rural Development Programme (RUDEP) of JDPMC advised the farmers in attendance to form a cooperative society with a membership strength of 15 upward in order to position themselves to benefit from programmes and activities of RUDEP.
Also speaking, Coordinator of the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, Iwo Local Government Chapter, Mr Segun Makinde, appreciated the efforts of JDPMC of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo under the leadership of the General Coordinator, Fr. Peter Akinkunmi, RUDEP’s Manager, Mrs Morenike Onaolapo and all her team for making life more meaningful to farmers.
He was also thankful to First Baptist Church, Aipate, Iwo, being pastored by Rev’d. Dr Ipolola for creating an enabling environment for the empowerment programme.
The welfare officer of YOWICAN, Ìwó Chapter, Mr Wale Oladokun, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the experts for taking time out to impact such a powerful knowledge on the participants.
Two participant who came from Ede, Mr. Ishola Debo Musliu and Pastor Ekundayo Samuel from Ejigbo to attend the programme were full of gratitude to the experts and to the organisers of the programme.
They disclosed that they heard of the training on IDAGBASOKE, a Programme sponsored by JDPMC on OSBC 104.5FM, Osogbo.
