Marine Minister, Shuaib Oyedokun mark Father’s Day in grand style

TIMOTHY AGBOR, OSOGBO

This year’s Father’s Day took a symbolic turn at Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government, Osun State, when the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola visited the Oluomo of Inisa, Chief Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun whom he described as his political father.

He added that the visitation is in line with the letter and spirit of international Father’s Day in which children reveal and demonstrate the importance of fathers to their growth and successes in life.

The Minister stated that even though his long-term relationship with Oyedokun had been on social level, he stressed that his recent defection into APC has solidified the union politically.

According to him, it has served as God’s own way of answering his (Oyetola’s) prayer at a critical moment when he made earnest supplication to God that the party should wax stronger than before.

“Baba Oyedokun didn’t give me the slightest notice that he was decamping from PDP to APC and when his letter of resignation filtered into the Social media, I doubted it initially until I later confirmed that it was authentic,” the minister remarked.

Alhaji Oyetola who described Chief Oyedokun as a man of integrity and strong man of Osun Politics, stated that the PDP has lost a rare gem and resultantly a reversal of its political and electoral fortune.

Oyedokun and Oyetola

“In spite of PDP’s bold face and empty propaganda that Oyedokun’s defection from the party was inconsequential, they still went about with millions of naira thinking he could be bought to rescind his decision,” he said.

Describing PDP as a political party which has lost its direction, Oyetola added that with the renewed dynamics which the movement of Oyedokun has brought to Osun politics, his (Oyetola’s) mind is now settled that APC is taking over government in the state as its electoral fortune is getting brighter each day.

In his welcome speech to the Minister and his entourage, Chief Oyedokun noted that even though Oyetola’s visit was intended to be a private visit, it turned out to be a public event in view of the pleasant ambush laid by his well-wishers who got wind of his planned visit and used the yearly sallah tribute to his house to mobilise solidarity for both father and son.

Chief Oyedokun who noted that the visit of the Minister was symbolic in three ways, namely the day being International Father’s Day in which his son has staged his home-coming ,even on sallah day and a Sunday for christian worshippers, remarked that they all have spiritual significance in making his prayers and God’s promise for Oyetola come to fulfillment.
