The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has directed all its members to down their tools and fully participate in the nationwide indefinite strike against hikes in electricity and fuel price.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had kicked against the recent increments and demanded their reversal by the Federal Government.
Apparently not satisfied with nonchalant attitude of the Federal Government towards their requests, the NLC announced total strike and protests to begin on Monday, September 28.
In a notice signed by the National Secretary of the NUJ, Shuaibu Usman Leman and addressed to all state councils making up the NUJ, journalists were asked to join the industrial action.
The NUJ Letter to Members
The letter, dated September 25, a copy of which was seen by News Boom on Friday, chairmen of state councils of the union are expected to mobilise members to join the strike until directed otherwise by the NLC.
