Olufon stool: Allow oracle choose our monarch, we don’t want imposition, kingmakers tell Osun Gov
The kingmakers of Ifon-Orolu Land, headquarters of Orolu Local Government Area, Osun State, have called on the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, to allow the oracles of the land to choose their traditional ruler.
They alleged underground plan by Oyetola to impose a monarch on the indigenes of the community, warning that such action would be disastrous to the peace currently reigning in the community.
The kingmakers, during an emergency meeting held on Tuesday evening in the community, urged Oyetola to allow oracles of the land to choose the person that would rule the land.
Recall that the First class Chieftaincy stool of Olufon had been left vacant since April, 2021, after Oba Al-Mahruf Adekunle Magbagbeola Olumoyero II, the 34th Olufon of Ifon-Orolu Land, joined his ancestors.
Those present at the meeting of the kingmakers included, Chief Olatunde Oyetunji, Eesa of Ifon, who is also Olufon’s Regent, High Chief Ikolaba Moshood Lawal, Ikolaba of Ifon, Aaje Hamusa Olaawin, Aaje of Ifon, Chief Dunmoye Oyeleke, Eleesi of Ifon.
Others are Chief Mrs Lamulatu Afolabi, Iyalode of Ifon, High Akintunde Adamo, Ejemu of Ifon-Orolu, and High Chief Moses Araoye, Afin of Ifon.
Speaking on behalf of the seven kingmakers, Chief Oyetunji said they would resist any attempt by the state government to impose a king on them.
Gov Gboyega Oyetola
He said, “they (state government) want to impose a king on us and we don’t want it. They should allow the oracle choose our king for us so that peace and tranquility will reign. We are begging Governor Gboyega Oyetola not to disrupt the peace in Ifon-Orolu. He should desist from planned imposition of monarch in Ifon-Orolu.”
