The Osun State Council Quadrennial Conference/Election of the Non-Academic Staff of Educational and Associated Institutions expected to produce the new set of leadership in the state took another dimension as the election was postponed.
The Assistant Returning Officer, Comrade Damola Adelekun, in his comments during the conference that was held at the Leisure Spring Hotel, Osogbo on Thursday, 10th August, 2023, said due to the observed unfriendly atmosphere as a result of the disqualification of some contestants, the election has been postponed and new date would be communicated.
Meanwhile, some members have reacted to the postponement of the election and blamed the State Secretariat Staff under Comrade Emmanuel Adekoya for the unfriendly atmosphere.
The staff were fingered to have misinformed the General Secretary of the Union, Comrade Peters Adeyemi to have taken some decisions which did not go down well with the members.
The duo of Comrades S O Ibitoye and I. M. Fayemi contesting for the position of the State Chairmanship but got disqualified on unfounded claims, addressed the delegates who have traveled from various branches for the election, expressed their disappointment on the headquarters of the Union for lack of transparency of the exercise.
Ibiyoye and Fayemi alleged the headquarters of preferential treatment for their anointed candidate to emerge which was resisted by the delegates.
They appealed to their co-delegates and the Branch Officers not to be discouraged and charged them to remain focused as every legal means will be used to right the wrong in the administration of the Union.
Also, delegates from more than 10 of the 14 branches expressed their displeasure on the postponement of the election.

They complained about the sudden change of venue which has since three days ago been disclosed to one Mrs Sabainah Idowu Adejobi but kept away from others. They described the treatment melted out on them as unfair as they already gotten to the State Secretariat, the venue communicated to them before they were informed of the new venue. They called on the headquarters to do the needful before the situation degenerates.
Earlier, the outgoing Chairman, Comrade Kunle Ogundepo had delivered his speech. The Secretariat and the financial reports had also been presented, discussed and adopted and the Executive also dissolved thereafter.
The venue was bombarded with security agents from Police and Civil Defense which our correspondent learnt was as a result of threat alert on Comrades Ibitoye and Fayemi by some unknown individuals being allegedly sponsored by a contestant.
