Westland University Iwo matriculates over 150 students, ceremony excites parents

Parents and students of Westland University, Iwo, Osun State could not hide their joy during the 2nd matriculation ceremony of the institution which held on July 6, 2023.

The ceremony which took place in the main hall of the university had in attendance members of the management, staff, students and parents of the matriculants.

Over 150 newly admitted students were matriculated.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Adeniyi Adewusi, while addressing the audience, admonished the freshers to be of good behaviour and to add good character to their academic endeavours.

In his closing remarks, the VC said that solar lights would soon be installed in the university and also disclosed some other plans of the management that would make the university conducive for learning.

Earlier, Prof. Adewusi had declared the ceremony open after three old students of the university, Ojo Grace, Akinpade Bisola and Covenant Dilli led others in the rendering of the national and school anthem.

The Provosts of the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, Dr. Makinde and his counterpart in the Natural and Applied Sciences, Dr.  Olatayo had presented the matriculants to the Vice- Chancellor.

The Registrar, Mr. J. A. Ayeni, later led them in taking the matriculation oaths.

Addressing the matriculants, the Consultant to the university, Dr. Adeleke, congratulated and encouraged them to take their studies very seriously.

He told the new students, “Education is the best legacy that your parents can give you. Make the best use of it.”

Dr Adeleke further asked them to see the event as the beginning of greater things to come in their individual lives.

Meanwhile, some parents and guests at the ceremony expressed their appreciation to the management of the school, while others implored the institution managers to improve on the standard already set for the university.

Westland University, Iwo, Osun-State established by Dr. Engr Wole Adepoju, is a  private university approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2019. It offers  courses in Arts, Social , Management Sciences as well as Natural and Applied Sciences.
