Notwithstanding the tension and fear that gripped residents of Osogbo after the attack on the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and his convoy last weekend, #EndSARS protesters on Monday took to the streets of the capital city to resume their agitations.
The protesters in the afternoon, converged at Olaiya junction, the spot at which Governor Oyetola and other state government officials were attacked by suspected political thugs and hoodlums, and demanded for better future for Nigerian youths.
One of the protesters, Olawale Bakare, popularly known as ‘Mandate,’ while addressing his fellow youths said they would continue to storm the streets in protest against police brutality and bad governance.
Bakare said they were agitating for better future for Nigerian youths and that they wouldn’t want to be cheated again.

“All of us are responsible citizens of this country. Because we want freedom for ourselves, because we want equity and justice, we want justice for ourselves, we want good governance for ourselves, that is why we are doing this (protest).
“We want everyone to join us, we want reversal of electricity tariffs, all schools, primary, secondary and tertiary will be shut,” he added.
The protesters held a candle light procession in honour of some youths that died during the protest last week.
Armed with their lit candles, the protesters processed to Alekunwodo area of Osogbo, the home of one of the youths that died on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Mutiu.
They visited the victim’s parents and paid their last respect to Mutiu.
Meanwhile, the presence of the protesters at Olaiya paralysed commercial activities in the area as traders hurriedly shut their shops.
Recall that some yet to be identified hoodlums stormed Osun Mall, popularly known as Justrite and looted some wares in the mall.
Governor Oyetola had said in his statewide broadcast on Sunday that the protest was hijacked by political thugs and hoodlums who made attempt to take his life.
